Acclaimed as the definitive book on money laundering, Robinson demonstrated how hundreds of billions of dirty dollars are derived mainly from the drug trade, then reinvested throughout the world by otherwise legitimate businessmen. The book was headline-maker in 14 countries and has been turned into two television shows, written and hosted by Robinson.
His sequel to The Laundrymen was The Merger - How Organized Crime is Taking Over The World. In this book, Robinson revealed the shocking and disturbing methods that transnational organized criminals use to build multi-national corporations and showed how organized crime has become the major beneficiary of globalization. That was followed by The Sink - Terror, Crime and Dirty Money in the Offshore World. Here he exposed for the first time the extent to which transnational organised criminals and global terrorists have subverted the legitimate financial world to become, what he describes as, 'the most important special interest groups on the planet.'
A frequent guest on television and radio on both sides of the Atlantic, and the 1990 winner of the Benedictine After-Dinner Speaker of the Year Award, Robinson is currently at work on a major book about fraud, which will accompany his television series on fraud, electronic and economic crime that is tentatively called 'Follow The Money.'
A native New Yorker, Robinson graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia. After spending four years as an officer in the US Air Force, at the end of 1970 he took up residence in a small village in the south of France. Using that as his base, he vagabonded around the world, writing articles and short stories for leading North American and British magazines. In 1982, with more than 600 published credits to his name, he moved to England to concentrate on writing books.
Drawing on material from his books, especially money laundering, fraud, extortion, identity theft, drug trafficking, electronic crime, weapons trafficking and terrorism, plus the research that has gone into his books and television documentaries (in addition to his unique access to the inner-workings of international business, both legal and criminal) Jeffrey Robinson is a dynamic, charismatic and uniquely effective speaker.
